In a NASCAR Xfinity Series race dominated by Joe Gibbs Racing, one of their Toyota Supra's brought home the victory after this evening, but not the driver we expected to win. Brandon Jones moved past teammate Ty Gibbs for the win in a rain delayed, double-overtime event at Martinsville Speedway on Friday, April 8th.

Brandon Jones and his No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing team needed a good points day at Martinsville Speedway. Their strategy was to go out and get as many stage points as possible, which usually doesn't put the driver in a good position to win the race later on. Jones went on to win the second Stage, and it appeared that he may not have a chance to come back towards the front for the remaining part of the race. However, that would not be the case tonight.

Again, sitting on the pole to start the race, Ty Gibbs would lead 197 laps total for the evening, and winning the Stage 1 bonus playoff point. As pit strategies varied between teams, the No. 54 would opt out of stage points in order to get a top-10 starting position for the start of the final stage.

Drivers Ty Gibbs, Sam Mayer, AJ Allmendinger, and Riley Herbst were eligible for the Xfinity "Dash 4 Cash" prize at the end of today's race. They were eligible based on the finish at Richmond International Raceway and consisting of points-eligible driver for the NASCAR Xfinity Series. So, only drivers racing for championship points in the series was eligible for the chance to compete for this prize.

Gibbs showed his strength early, finishing 1st in Stage 1, 11st in Stage 2, and right back to the front row for multiple restarts during the final stage. Gibbs appeared to run away from the field in the final restart, but messed up more than once, allowing Sam Mayer and Brandon Jones to catchup with him before the checkered flag fell. Mayer and Gibbs would run into each other until Allmendinger blew right past him in the final corner of the race. So, AJ Allmendinger picked up the $100,000 prize for his No. 16 Kaulig Racing team.
