Ryan Preece running Xfinity race at Richmond for BJ McLeod Motorsports: Will pilot No. 5 car

BJ McLeod Motorsports
Stewart-Haas Racing's Ryan Preece will be back behind the wheel of a NASCAR stock car this weekend at Richmond Raceway, driving for the BJ McLeod Motorsports NASCAR Xfinity Series organization.

Now the official "reserve driver" for Stewart-Haas Racing, Preece is under contract to drive for the NASCAR Cup Series team if any of the team's four other drivers cannot compete in an event for any reason. Preece does, however, have some guaranteed seat time throughout the 2022 season, as listed below:

  • 2 NASCAR Cup Series Events
    • Dover, Charlotte ("Coca-Cola" 600)
      • Ride - To be announced, but with an SHR alliance team; will likely be Live Fast Motorsports or Rick Ware Racing.
  • 3 NASCAR Xfinity Series Events
    • Richmond, Charlotte, Nashville
      • Ride - To be announced, but with an SHR alliance team: Rick Ware Racing, BJ McLeod Motorsports, Ryan Sieg Racing.
  • 7 NASCAR Truck Series Events
    • Las Vegas, Atlanta, Darlington, Texas, Nash, Pocono, Kansas
      • Ride - David Gilliland Racing

Two of his seasons NASCAR Truck Series starts have now come and gone, with 5 left to go, but still has all of his NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series starts left. All 3 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts until Saturday. Preece will pilot the BJ McLeod Motorsports No. 5 entry, of course in a Ford Mustang from the SHR alliance. Mohawk Northeast Inc. will be the primary partner for Preece at Richmond Raceway.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series "ToyotaCare" 250 will take place on Saturday, April 2nd. Live television coverage will begin at 1:30 PM EST on FOX Sports 1.
