Polesitter Ryan Blaney and his No. 12 Ford Mustang built by Team Penske was not just fast enough to win the top qualifying time, but it was quick enough to scamper away with the lead for 26-laps, when the competition caution was scheduled for. From multiple different pit strategies and the was caution flags fell, Stage 1 would be won by William Byron, leading 12-laps to the end.
Stage 2 would be dominated by Chase Elliott and Ryan Blaney, with Blaney winning the Stage points after the duo swapped the top-spot multiple times.
Coming to the tail end of the race, Chase Elliott would bring out a caution with 8-laps to go, with the other driver named "Chase" leading the race. Yes, we are talking about Chase Briscoe.
Chase Briscoe had been leading since taking the lead away for Ryan Blaney on lap-289, and had the taste of victory a arms reach, before the No. 9 car got loose come off of one of the turns, which of course brought out the caution with 7-to-go. Briscoe nailed the restart and ran away like a thief from nearby contenders Ross Chastain and Tyler Reddick. The result: Briscoe wins and clinches the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series playoff lineup.
