Allmendinger’s No. 16 Chevrolet took the checkered flag by 2.039 seconds over Austin Hill in the first road course race of the year. It was the veteran driver’s first NASCAR Xfinity Series win of the 2022 season and 11th of his career. He has seven road course wins on six different road course tracks, holding the record for the series-most.
The 40-year-old driver won Stage 1, gaining valuable points. Young-gun Sam Mayer fought like a mad man for the Stage 2 points, giving him a playoff point for later.
Ross Chastain, a NASCAR Cup Series regular competitor, was in contention to win the race for DGM Racing until Landon Cassill turned the No. 92 machine coming around Turn 1 after the final restart, resulting in an 17th place finish for the Florida Watermelon Farmer.
