Moffitt who found himself one lap down early in the season opener event, eventually made his way back into the top-15 competing against some of the series top drivers. Although this race began in a quite uneventful manner, chaos would ensue in the closing laps, something that has become customary to the Camping World Truck Series. Thad Moffitt, sitting near 15th place had a 'bird's eye view' as the wreck unfolded and numerous drivers were involved. Moffitt and the No. 43 Silverado were involved in this wreck, though damage sustained was not detrimental to the team's ability to completing the race.
As the red and yellow flag conditions were lifted, Moffitt made his way back into formation and remained with the pack until a yellow flag prematurely ended the race in overtime. Moffitt would finish well within the top-20, finishing 18th as he joined many other drivers all battling for position.
