February 5th, 1950 - Rookie Harold Kite takes the checkered flag to win the caution-free race at the Daytona Beach road-course, marking his first NASCAR Grand National Series victory in his first start.
February 1st, 1959 - Despite no guardrails on the track, shakedown runs are conducted on the brand-new Daytona International Speedway, along with the first practice sessions to get ready for the debut of the Daytona 500.
February 1st, 1969 - Richard Petty wins the Motor Trend 500 at the Riverside road-course, finishing 25 seconds before second place A.J. Foyt in his first start driving a Ford.
