Leidos to sponsor Bubba Wallace and 23XI Racing for 2022 season

Leidos
23XI Racing revealed Tuesday Morning (1/4/22) that Leidos, a company that specializes in engineering and technology solutions, will come aboard Bubba Wallace’s No. 23 Camry, sponsoring the team for the 2022 race season.

Leidos, a “Fortune 500” company, might be best known by NASCAR fans for their time as a sponsor in 2016-2017 where they sponsored the Roush Fenway Racing NASCAR Xfinity Series No. 6 car that Bubba Wallace drove. Now, roughly six years later the company will return to the sport, making their debut with 23XI Racing at Austin Texas’ Circuit of the Americas (March 27th, 2022) this upcoming season.

When asked about the new sponsorship, Bubba Wallace commented saying “I’m pumped to partner with Leidos again,”. “We had a great partnership when I was running Xfinity and to now have them on board our No. 23 Camry TRD and continue supporting my career and what we are doing both on and off the racetrack at 23XI is really a cool thing for me. I’m excited to have them on board for the ride.”

23XI Racing, a young team in the NASCAR Cup Series has seen it's fair share of ups and downs. In 2021, during the team's debut season in the NASCAR Cup Series 23XI Racing saw Bubba Wallace hold off the field during as rain poured into Talladega County, Alabama, and Talladega Superspeedway. Though the team struggled plenty, they would achieve their first victory in less than one year, and would have room for more. 23XI Racing found it possible to begin a second team, signing Cup Series veteran Kurt Busch, and reviving the No. 45, a number sacred to both Michael Jordan and the Petty family. With that expansion coming for the 2022 season, that meant a greater necessity for sponsorship. While Wallace had not lacked sponsorship in 2021, recieving funding from McDonalds, Dr. Pepper, Door Dash, Root Insurance, Draft King and others, the addition of a teammate was sure to spread the sponsorship in a different manner. Since Kurt Busch's arrival a partner of team owner Michael Jordan's, Wheaties has stepped aboard for primary sponsorship, and now Wallace's long lost partner Leidos has returned.

Leidos CEO and Chairmen, Roger Krone commented on the company's new investment in marketing, stating “We are thrilled with our decision to once again team up with Bubba Wallace and now with 23XI Racing,”. “Bubba’s efforts have paved the way for real change, pushing for a culture of inclusion and diversity not only in NASCAR, but throughout the world. We see this as much more than a sponsorship – we see an opportunity to fight for our shared values. We are proud to have Bubba Wallace representing Leidos both on and off the track.”
