Riley Herbst, Monster Energy back to SHR for more in 2022

It has been announced that Riley Herbst will return behind the wheel of the No. 98 Ford Mustang in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for 2022. This will mark his second full-time season racing for Stewart-Haas Racing.

Monster Energy will return as the primary sponsor of Herbst for his 3rd full-time season in the Xfinity Series.

Herbst has no career NASCAR National Series victories to his name, after making his first Xfinity and Truck starts in 2018. He was signed to drive the No. 18 Toyota Supra for Joe Gibbs Racing in 2020, but was picked up by SHR when Gibbs let him go at seasons end. He has nothing but 9 top-fives and 34 top-tens to show for as of now.

Herbst has a bright NASCAR future ahead, as if he can prove himself a winner in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for SHR, he has the possibility to move up to Cup competition with the team. Kevin Harvick won't last forever in Cup, so Herbst has until 2023 when Harvick's contract ends to prove he deserves the SHR No. 4 ride. Or a Cup ride in general.
