For the first time in nearly half a decade Richard Petty Motorsports' iconic No. 43 will find a fully devoted partner onboard, and this time it appears as though they will be taking a step away from the classic 'Petty Blue'. In its place, Focus Factor's royal blue and lime green colors will adorn the race car for a majority of the season.
As Focus Factor makes it's first appearance in the sport, these new colors have been confirmed to hit the track February 6th during the "Busch Light Clash" at the LA Memorial Coliseum, as well as the "Daytona" 500 at Daytona International Speedway. After this season kick off, Focus Factor will sponsor the No. 43 car for countless other races, including the All-Star Race at Texas Motor Speedway.
This announcement serves as a big achievement for driver Erik Jones, who will be entering the 2022 season for his second year of competition with Richard Petty Motorsports, and the 7th overall in the NASCAR Cup Series. Throughout his time in stock car racing's highest division, Erik Jones has won two races, which look meek alongside his impressive 33 top-5 finishes, and 68 top-10 finishes. Additionally, Jones has won a pole award two times in the Cup Series, occurring during his successful time time with Joe Gibbs Racing.
Though Erik Jones found great success at Joe Gibbs Racing, one thing that the team was unable to do for Jones was to help him find sponsorship of his own. Jones’ only sponsors were with the team before he joined, and remain with the team today despite Jones' departure. Now, Richard Petty Motorsports and Erik Jones have teamed up and scored big, bringing Focus Factor aboard the No. 43.
“Our team has really gained momentum over the last month of this year’s 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season. We are even more focused on improving those finishes to start the new year strong, and with Focus Factor on board, we are guaranteed to be successful. It would be awesome to bring this new partner their first win – I cannot wait to get started with them.” said Jones.
Both Richard Petty and Erik Jones ought to be thankful for this 26 race partnership as it marks the end of a difficult era for both parties. As previously mentioned Erik Jones' luck with funding has been slim for most of his NASCAR Xfinity and Cup Series career. Sponsorship of his own was not a necessity until just recently when he joined forces with The King. Richard Petty Motorsports too has seen struggle with sponsorship in recent years. After the departure of Aric Almirola and Smithfield's sponsorship, the team has struggled to find partners with Bubba Wallace, and most recently Erik Jones. In 2021 the team lacked outside sponsorship and resorted to companies owned by the team owners, Petty's Garage and Medallion Bank for majority of the season.
Fortunately, now Focus Factor will make a great investment in Richard Petty Motorsports and with any luck will solve that issue for the foreseeable future. Consistency and better performance may be in sight for the RPM gang.
