For the second week in a row, a 2021 NASCAR Cup Series Playoff driver has finished last due to a accident. To a playoff driver, finishing last could mean that advancing to the next round may be out of the question.
This week, it happened to be Kurt Busch, who spun out racing on the the outside of Brad Keselowski's No. 2 car. After Busch's car turned around, it clobbered the wall, ending his day on lap 40. A 37th place finish is not good for a driver who is trying to compete for the championship.
As of the current playoff standings, Kurt Busch is in a tiebreaker for the 12th spot with Alex Bowman. Busch doesn't have to win to move on, but a good finish next week at Bristol would definitely help him advance past the Round of 16. As a driver, all you can hope for is a win.
