Kurt Bush joins 23XI Racing for 2022 season

23XI Racing

It was announced moments ago (8/27/21) that NASCAR Nextel Cup Series Champion, Kurt Busch will drive the 23XI Racing No. 45 Monster Energy Toyota Camry for the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season.

23XI Racing a race team formed by successful athletes (NASCAR driver) Denny Hamlin, and (Legendary Basketball Player) Michael Jordan will now add a second driver to their lineup. Alongside Bubba Wallace will now sit a veteran of the sport, ready to supply his wisdom and knowledge, hopefully improving the team drastically.

After the sale of Chip Ganassi Racing to Trackhouse Racing in July, rumors that had circled the NASCAR world for months now held credibility. We knew then that Kurt Busch had to race somewhere else in 2022, and after his current teammate Ross Chastain was chosen to drive the Trackhouse Racing No. 1 Chevrolet, Busch’s move to 23XI Racing seemed imminent. Now those highly believable rumors have been confirmed.

With this deal taking place, for the first time in their NASCAR Cup Series careers the Busch brothers, Kyle and Kurt will race as “teammates”. You see, 23XI Racing who Kurt Busch will drive for is owned by a Joe Gibbs Racing driver, Denny Hamlin. That connection alone, along with Toyota’s assistance has made Joe Gibbs Racing an ally, and that’s the team that Kyle Busch has driven for in the past decade and a half. While at the Cup level this is Kurt’s first time racing with Toyota, this isn’t his first Rodeo. Back in 2012 Busch drove the No. 54 Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing in the Nationwide (Now Xfinity) Series.

It is undoubtable that 23XI’s newest addition to the team is a serious acquisition of knowledge and racing talent. Like it or not, at the end of the day, Kurt Busch is returning to drive the Next Gen NASCAR Camry in 2022. No information on whether or not 23XI Racing has acquired a second charter for this the No. 45 entry has been disclosed.
