It has been announced today, that Ross Chastain will become the second driver for Trackhouse Racing in 2022, joining current driver Daniel Suarez. This deal is said to be multi-year, meaning the young driver will have at least two seasons with Trackhouse Racing to prove his driving ability.
As Trackhouse purchased the Chip Ganassi Racing operations back on June 30th, they announced that Suárez would return to the team, but next season alongside a teammate. Ganassi drivers Ross Chastain and Kurt Busch were said to be the top candidates for the 2nd ride, and that statement was truthful as we see Chastain stay in the same race shop.
Sponsorship has not been unveiled by the team, but they did say that Chastain will drive the No. 1 Chevrolet Camaro for Trackhouse, leaving Suarez in the No. 99 Camaro. This will announcement puts Kurt Busch’s future further into question, what team will the NASCAR veteran move to at the end of the current season. That question will likely be answered in the upcoming weeks or months.
