Kyle Busch wins Xfinity race at Road America

Xfinity Racing

Kyle Busch has won the “Henry” 180, scoring his 101st NASCAR Xfinity Series victory in a tremendously exciting race at Road America.

Once again, Rowdy has won in the Xfinity Series, making it 4 for 4 so far this season. While this victory was obviously well earned by Busch, he was not the only driver who was in contention today. One driver who very well could have won this race was Austin Cindric, Team Penske’s driver of the No. 22. The No. 22 lead the field time and time again, and only lost a chance at the victory when towards the end of the race Myatt Snider was turned into the outside wall, causing a pileup and involving drivers like Cindric, Justin Allgaier to recieve some extreme damage. In this incident Kyle Busch was even victim to a little bit of damage. Speaking of Justin Allgaier, he too (prior to the said incident) was a real contender for the win. Allgaier had a fast car all day, and unfortunately for him that speed got all used up as the nose of the car received some fairly decent damage.

Now for some drivers who simply suffered with strategy, people like Noah Gragson, AJ Allmendinger, and Daniel Hemric were very close to the win at times but simply could not outrun Kyle Busch. Noah Gragson started the day off yesterday’s practice looming overhead. He overcame that setback, starting from the rear, and made it to the front of the pack. Over the course of a few restarts Gragson obtained the lead, and lost it to Kyle Busch who simply had newer tires. In addition to older tires Gragson had also developed power steering issues, which assisted in his loss of track position. Daniel Hemric surprisingly had a come back in the sense that his car was very good all day, but was sent to the rear of the field for having a crew member over the wall too soon. With that late race penalty, his chances looked slim, but in dominating fashion Hemric finished 2nd. AJ Allmendinger was where he needed to be to win, but like Noah Gragson, Allmendinger’s tires were not as good as Busch’s. In the final 5 laps of the race, fans saw Allmendinger score a decent finish of 4th, but undoubtedly not what the team had hoped for.

In this race AJ Allmendinger won both of the stages.
