The NASCAR Cup Series hasn't ran on Sonoma Raceway's 12 turn circuit since 2019, therfore without practice or qualifying, this means that some drivers will have to learn the ins-and-outs of this track on the fly.
Some drivers who fall into this category are:
- Tyler Reddick
- Cole Custer
- Christopher Bell
- Anthony Alfredo
- Chase Briscoe
Unfortunately, these promising drivers will have to learn from the drop of the green flag. On the other hand, there are some really good drivers that have a good chance at winning Sonoma this year.
Ones to watch for the win:
- Martin Truex, Jr. [No. 19 Toyota / Joe Gibbs Racing] - Truex has won at Sonoma 3 times in his career, will he be the first driver to win 4 races in 2021?
- Kyle Busch [No. 18 Toyota / Joe Gibbs Racing] - Busch only has one win at Sonoma, but his road course ability isn't out of the question.
- Chase Elliott [No. 9 Chevrolet / Hendrick Motorsports] - Elliott hasn't had the best of a season so far, could that change coming to another road course?
- Kevin Harvick [No. 4 Ford / Stewart-Haas Racing] - Is this where Harvick turns around his awful start to the 2021 season? He has a win here, but does he use that to his advantage?
A few other drivers to keep an eye on:
- Alex Bowman [No. 48 Chevrolet / Hendrick Motorsports]
- Kurt Busch [No. 1 Chevrolet / Chip Ganassi Racing]
- Erik Jones [No. 43 Chevrolet / Richard Petty Motorsports]
The "Toyota/Save Mart" 350 at Sonoma Raceway will take place on Sunday, June 6th. Live coverage will start at 4:00 PM EST on FOX Sports 1.
