As NASCAR is trying to adapt to the rapidly changing automotive market, is an all-electric racing series in the sport’s future?

While some may fans may show their disapproval for this idea, it is not yet out of the question as NASCAR President Steve Phelps said in February; "Could we have an exhibition series potentially? Yes, we could. That would be something that we might explore". As NASCAR declined to comment about the topic this week, could they be already exploring into the matter behind the scenes?

It would be far from possible for any such thing to be ready for 2022, and there is no clear date on when NASCAR plans to begin their exploration into an all-electric racing series, as there will be a lot of developing and testing left to do. It would also come down to, how many car manufacturers have a electric car to enter into competition? We will have to see how this story unfolds. Be sure to follow Stock Car Media, as we will keep you updated on this topic.
