Rick Ware Racing announced today (4/6/21) that Joey Gase will drive No. 28 Ford Mustang in the upcoming NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series races at Talladega Superspeedway, honoring NASCAR Hall Of Famer Davey Allison.
Davey Allison, son of NASCAR legend Bobby Allison, won 19 races in the Winston Cup Series, before tragically passing away in a helicopter crash at Talladega Superspeedway on July 13th 1993.
Joey Gase will honor the Alabama native at Talladega, with the above “RegisterMe.org” paint scheme. “RegisterMe.org” is a website that allows users to sign up to donate organs, eyes, and other tissue after their death. While few are aware, Davey Allison’s organs were donated after his death, and were able to help four individuals enjoy the gift of life.
This paint scheme closely resembles the No. 28 Texaco/Havoline paint scheme (see below) that Davey Allison drove during his time in the Cup Series. The T.V. Panel of the No. 28 Ford Mustang will feature a photo of Allison, and Allison’s signature.

You can catch this paint scheme hit the track on April 24th at 4:00 PM ET, and April 25th at 2:00 PM ET for the Ag-Pro 300, and the Geico 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. Both races will be aired live on FOX.
