Ryan Blaney won today’s “Folds of Honor” QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, scoring only his 5th victory in the NASCAR Cup Series.

Today’s race at Atlanta was full of excitement, strategy, and let downs. We saw amazing runs from unexpected drivers today such as Ryan Newman, Austin Dillon, Daniel Suárez, Chris Buescher, and more. On the other hand we saw some unexpectedly poor runs from drivers such as Martin Truex Jr. and Kevin Harvick. Martin Truex Jr., last weeks winner, led many laps in yesterday’s Xfinity Series race, and managed to get a 2nd place finish in that race. Today, Martin Truex Jr. was often seen running in the top 20, which is a major difference. Kevin Harvick, while having a tough start to the season thus far, was expected to dominate today’s race. Harvick has won 2 of the last 4 races at Atlanta Motor Speedway, though today he was just able to snag 10th place finish, after struggling for most of the race. Overall one of the biggest shake ups to occur during today’s race was when in the final 10 laps, race leader Kyle Larson, who led a majority of the race, was passed by Ryan Blaney. Blaney went on to win the race.

Likely the most significant incidents that occurred during today’s race at Atlanta was when on a stage 2 restart, the outside lane (behind Kyle Busch) stacked up, and the No. 1 of Kurt Bush was spun into the wall by the No. 11 of Denny Hamlin. This damage was too much for Kurt Busch to come back from, and led him to DNF, ending his chance at a victory, and bringing out a caution.

Kyle Larson won both stage 1 and stage 2 of this race, and of course Ryan Blaney won stage 3.
