Before the Cup Series came to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the Pennzoil 400, drivers Kevin Harvick and Michael McDowell, were the only drivers to have finished the each race in the top-10 for the season.
That all changed this weekend.
Harvick, drove the No. 4 Mobil 1 Ford machine to a disappointing 20th place finish, which dropped him 5 positions in the points standings. For the most part, all of the Stewart-Haas Racing drivers had a pretty bad day at Las Vegas. Surprisingly, Harvick was the highest finisher of the four car team. Rookie Chase Briscoe finished 21st, Cole Custer finished 25th, and Aric Almirola finished last (38th) due to a blown tire that caused him to wreck.
2021 Daytona 500 champion Michael McDowell also dropped 5 places in the points standings, when his No. 34 Love's Travel Stops Ford finished in 17th. His rookie teammate, Anthony Alfredo finished 24th. Both Front Row Motorsports drivers led a total of 10 laps in the Pennzoil 400.
