In 2020 we saw Ford teams dominate in the NASCAR Cup series, while Chevrolet and Toyota teams seemed to lag behind. The reason for this could have been the support that these teams were given by the manufactures (or lack thereof), but it could also have been that Chevrolet and Toyota did not have as advanced research and technology as Ford did.
The Ford manufacturer's wins for 2020 tied the number of manufacturer's of both Chevrolet and Toyota combined.
- Ford - 18 Wins
- Chevrolet - 9 Wins
- Toyota - 9 Wins
As the NASCAR off-season coming to an end, with the Busch Clash tonight, I think the Chevrolet teams are going to have a better 2021 season, that is, if they learn from the mistakes they made in the previous season.
First of all, some Chevrolet teams have a few new faces, such as:
- Erik Jones, a long-time Toyota driver will drive for Richard Petty Motorsports in the No. 43 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE. Jones has the ability to get in victory lane, as he has 2 career wins, but this may be a difficult task in Richard Petty Motorsports equipment.
- Daniel Suárez will start 2021 with a new team, and a new manufacturer. After running Toyota's for multiple teams, he will drive the No. 99 Chevrolet Camaro Zl1 1LE for Trackhouse Racing. No, Suarez has no Cup wins to date, but could put one in the books this year.
Some of the older Chevrolet drivers, could have a breakout year in 2021. Only 5 different drivers won to contibute to Chevrolet's 2020 total of 9 wins.
- Kyle Larson may have 6 career Cup wins, but he is going to have to prove himself after his 2020 incident. This year, he is with Hendrick Motorsports, who's equipment is a step up from Chip Ganassi Racing. He may be lacking funds for the most part in 2021, but if he does well he could find full-time sponsorship before the end of the season.
- Ross Chastain will finally take a full-time ride with Chip Ganassi Racing, so he could have a consistent season. He is not new to Chevrolet, as he raced part-time for Spire Motorsports.
- Tyler Reddick had a decent rookie season. He could have done better, but 2021 will have something in store for him.
We will just have to wait and see!
Chevrolet drivers have to drive like Chase Elliott!
