eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational to return in 2021

NASCAR

NASCAR and iRacing announced Tuesday (1/26/21) morning that the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series would return this year.

Last year, in the midst of the global pandemic, the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series began as a way to continue NASCAR races during a time in which real races were unable to be held. This series was aired on Fox Sports and involved (as the name implies) NASCAR drivers from both the past and present.

This year as the series returns the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series will consist of ten races that will compliment those of the “real life” NASCAR schedules. This series will be aired on select Wednesday nights throughout the  season, and will be aired on both FS1 and NBC Sports.

This series will serve a big role for NASCAR this year allowing previews of the tracks that are a part of the 2021 NASCAR schedules. This is more important than ever for a couple of reasons, first off the pandemic has discontinued practice and qualifying for many races this up coming season, and has reduced capacity for these racing facilities. Second, there are a few new tracks being introduced this year to the NASCAR schedule, including the Bristol dirt races at Bristol Motor Speedway, and races at Circuit of the Americas in Austin Texas. Overall both of these factors will leave unfamiliar fans with little knowledge of the tracks and how the race cars will perform there. The eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series will allow for fans to observe the tracks beforehand, and get an idea of how the upcoming “real life” race will go.

The series will begin on March 24th, airing on FS1. The details of the first five races is provided below, more information on the rest of the races will be announced at a further date.
