Chris Buescher to honor Matt Kenseth with Darlington throwback paint scheme

RFK Racing
Chris Buescher announced Tuesday morning (03/09/2022) that he will be honoring former No. 17 driver Matt Kenseth in the NASCAR Cup Series Throwback race in May. This becomes officially the first Throwback paint scheme to be released for the 2022 season.

Buescher and sponsor Socios.com will honor Matt Kenseth by running the colors of his 2004 DeWalt paint scheme (See Image Below).

The old paint scheme transitions well onto the Gen 7 car, and with the new number placement being closer to the front wheel. It is worth noting that the No. 17 font is exactly the same, even though what is referred to the "Matt Kenseth No. 17 font", is not owned by RFK Racing, and was never owned by the organization. So that is why recent drivers of the No. 17 like Chris Buescher and Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. has run with the font we have now gotten used to.

The Darlington Throwback race may be just under two months away, but the teams do not waste any time, including picking the great paint scheme and driver they want to honor in this special race weekend.

The "Goodyear" 400 at Darlington Raceway will take place on Sunday, May 8th. The live television broadcast of the Throwback race will begin at 3:30 PM EST on FOX.
