Trevor Bayne, the 2011 "Daytona" 500 champion will return behind the wheel of a NASCAR Stock Car, during the 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series season. He is set to pilot the No. 18 Toyota Supra for Joe Gibbs Racing in a total of seven events in the upcoming season.

With funding from Devotion Nutrition, two-time NASCAR Xfinity Series winner Trevor Bayne will drive the JGR "Star Car" in the seven 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series events below:

  1. Auto Club Speedway (Saturday, February 26th)
  2. Phoenix Raceway (Saturday, March 12th)
  3. Charlotte Motor Speedway (Saturday, March 28th)
  4. Nashville Superspeedway (Saturday, June 25th)
  5. New Hampshire Motor Speedway (Saturday, July 16th)
  6. Las Vegas Motor Speedway (Saturday, October 15th)
  7. Homestead-Miami Raceway (Saturday October 22nd)

Bayne retired from full-time NASCAR competition after the end of the 2018 Montser Energy Cup Series season, even though his last full-time season was in 2017, as he only started 21 of the 36 scheduled races during 2018. Despite his first NASCAR Cup Series start coming in 2010, and his first win in 2011, Bayne wouldn't run a full-time schedule in the series until 2015. Bayne hasn't stepped foot in a NASCAR Xfinity Series ride since 2016, and his most recent NASCAR National Series start coming back in 2020 for Niece Motorsports' NASCAR Truck Series operation.

Trevor Bayne has been the only driver who is currently announced, to ride in the No. 18 JGR "star car", which is expected to host multiple NASCAR National drivers throughout the season. He will join as a teammate to full-time JGR driver, Brandon Jones. Ty Gibbs is expected to join as a full-time driver for the operation, but the team has yet to announce anything for him.
