Liberty University extends contract with Hendrick Motorsports through 2026

It was announced by Hendrick Motorsports today (10/15/21) , that Liberty University, which has been a longtime supporter of William Byron, has extended their partnership of the team through the 2026 season.

Liberty University has sponsored William Byron since 2014 when he drove late model stock cars. They moved with him into the NASCAR scene as well, win the ROTY in the 2016 NASCAR Truck Series season, and rode with him when he won the 2017 NASCAR Xfinity Series championship. They were also the primary sponsor of Byron's No. 24 Chevrolet Camaro when he won his first career Cup Series race in the 2020 "Coke Zero Sugar" 400.

It is good to see sponsors that are loyal to certain drivers, and are willing to help them along in their racing careers, even in their low seasons. And Liberty University looks like they are ready to ride along with the No. 24 Chevrolet Camaro for another 5 NASCAR Cup Series seasons, and as the primary sponsor for 12 races annually. Byron is currently a junior working toward an undergraduate degree in strategic communication via Liberty University’s online program.

As of Byron's current contract to drive for Hendrick Motorsports stands through 2023, it would be hard to see that he would part from Hendrick or Liberty University.
