Qualifying for Xfinity Series opening race canceled

Qualifying for today’s Xfinity Series opening race the “Beef. It’s What’s for Dinner” 300 at Daytona International Speedway has been canceled due to rain.

The starting line up for the race has been set, based on last year’s owner points. This leaves the No. 22 of Austin Cindric and the No. 7 of Justin Allgaier starting in row one, the No. 11 of Justin Haley and the No. 98 of Riley Herbst will start in row two, the No. 9 of Noah Gragson and the No. 19 of Brandon Jones will start in row three.

Because qualifying was cancelled due to rain, five drivers will not start in the race. These drivers will be: Tyler Reddick in the No. 03, Chris Cockrum in the No. 25, Jordan Anderson in the No. 3, Ronnie Bassett Jr. in the No. 77, and Mario Gosselin in the No. 91.

This is undoubtedly disappointing for drivers like two time NASCAR Xfinity Series champion Tyler Reddick who had plans to drive the No. 03 in a one off for Our Motorsports. Normally a champion would be automatically locked into today’s race, although because Reddick didn’t run in the Xfinity Series last year, he will not be able to run today.

At this moment rain has stopped in Daytona, and track drying has resumed. It is expected that the “Beef. It’s What’s for Dinner” 300 will start at 5:00 PM est. as scheduled, though this will depend on the weather cooperating, successful track drying, and that today’s ARCA Race starts and finishes as scheduled.

We will keep you updated on the weather conditions in Daytona Beach, and any further complications with today’s race.

The following is the starting line up for the “Beef. It’s What’s for Dinner” 300:
