For multiple drivers the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season may have their best one yet. Some of them are fairly new to the Cup Series; while others have been around for a bit, but just haven't had their chance until now. A few of them needed new equipment to prove themselves, and others just needed some time.
Most of these drivers are ones we need to watch not only this year, but in future seasons.
- Bubba Wallace [No. 23 Toyota / 23XI Racing] - Didn't quite have the best performance at Richard Petty Motorsports in the past three seasons. Though after his qualifying and practice laps for just the Daytona 500 alone, Wallace will be one to watch this season with new team, 23XI Racing.
- Tyler Reddick [No. 8 Chevrolet / Richard Childress Racing] - Reddick had a pretty consistent 2020 Rookie season, but didn't produce a trip to victory lane and narrowly missed the playoffs. 2021 could be a really good season for Reddick, with the Bristol dirt race in May, and the fact that he doesn't really have any issues at many of the other tracks on the 2021 schedule.
- Christopher Bell [No. 20 Toyota / Joe Gibbs Racing] - Before taking over Erik Jones’ seat at JGR, Bell ran his rookie season at the now defunct team, Levine Family Racing. Now starting with 2x champion crew chief Adam Stevens, Bell will have a good run and maybe even a win or playoff appearance in 2021.
- Daniel Suárez [No. 99 Chevrolet / Trackhouse Racing] - Now that Suárez has found a ride at a brand new team, he can settle in and just race. This year he will be able to focus on trying to get to victory lane in 2021.
- Austin Dillon [No 3 Chevrolet / Richard Childress Racing] - After a win at Texas, and Round of 12 playoff appearance before getting eliminated, Dillon could be on a roll to make 2021 his first, multi win season. Dillon will need to work on his road course performance, as there are 7 total on the schedule this year.
I might turn out to be wrong on some of these predictions, but I suggest we keep an eye on these drivers, as a few of these predictions might just be right!
This is a two-part opinion article series, so stay tuned for the second part!
